Many of  these designs were inspired by the fantastic seminal work by  authors Stephen D. Phillips in conjunction with Michael J. Bishop called the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway Measured and Drawn to whom we extend our gratitude. Indeed Michael Bishop spent over 49 years devoted to recording every aspect of the lines infrastructure.
This fabulous book is a recommended must to all L&B enthusiasts.
