Renwick, Wilton & Co. were a well-known coal merchant operating from Torquay and Dartmouth, serving homes, businesses and industry throughout Devon. Like many coal merchants of the era, the company maintained its own fleet of private owner wagons which carried coal and other minerals across the railway network.
These colourful private owner wagons were once a common sight on Britain's railways and provide a fascinating contrast to the more familiar railway company-owned wagons. Their distinctive liveries and regional connections make them particularly attractive to railway modellers and collectors.
