PROTOTYPE Notes
Built from the 1890's onwards various diagrams AA plough brake vans were built to work with bottom drop ballast hoppers. The GWR built 24 of these very long lived vans and one was photographed still in use in 1966.
The GWR was the first railway in the UK to use ballast spreading ploughs (A NZ idea originally).
