Prototype Notes
These kits represent the 32', Maunsell designed, utility vans introduced by the SE&CR in 1919 for Passenger luggage and parcels traffic. The vehicles continued in production throughout the Southern Railway period right up until the 1950's under British Rail. Nearly 1000 variants were built in the various Southern works and even Wolverton under BR. They remained in use well after Nationalisation until the final vans were withdrawn in 1986.There were various planking styles as well as plywood sided versions. This model represents the 'even' planked type.
