Description
 By adding the second oval on the inside you now have the opportunity of running  two trains whilst shunting the yard. To do this you will need either three conventional speed controllers connected to the track at P1, P2 and P3, or alternatively use a DCC system. If using the three seperate controllers, take care to ensure that only one of them is switched on when transfering trains from one loop to the other, or from the sidings onto the inner loop. The goods yard can be of the traditional steam age type, as shown in Peco's Axmouth and Beer version of this plan (see picture) or a more contemporary set of sidings with an overhead crane for offloading of modern containers. The Ratio 546 Traversing Crane kit could be used here as a scenic addition (Peco Publications)
